Kenerly Orthopedics Offers New Direct Digital X-Ray PDF Print E-mail
August 2006 - Patients needing x-rays at Dr. Kenerly’s office will benefit from the latest direct digital technology on the market.  Dr. Kenerly, like many hospitals and radiography centers in larger cities, has purchased the Swissray Direct Digital X-Ray system and now has it installed and operating in his office.  Dr. Kenerly has Southeast Georgia’s only Swissray system in operation outside of the Savannah area.
“Our patients are excited at how the Swissray system works.    They often can stand for x-rays and the highly-mobile system locates itself around them for precision digital radiography.    It’s much quicker and more efficient than any system I’ve seen,” says Dr. Kenerly.  He adds, “The images are incredible.   The patient will benefit from the detailed images Swissray gives the doctor.”  The Swissray system is DR (digital radiography) and in contrast to CR (computerized radiography) and conventional x-ray is much faster and requires no “cassette” for the technician to handle between each image taken of a patient.

First Computer-Assisted Knee Replacement Surgery Performed in Jesup PDF Print E-mail
May 11, 2006 - Dr. J. Lex Kenerly, III, Orthopaedic Surgeon, performed a new electromagnetic computer-assisted knee replacement surgery last month at Wayne Memorial Hospital.   It was the seventh EM computer-assisted knee replacement surgery performed in the state and the first one outside the Atlanta area.
“This system provides the surgeon with the ability to navigate the knee with incredible precision,” says Dr. Kenerly.  “This new technology allows the surgeon to align the patient’s bone and joint implants with a degree of accuracy not possible with the naked eye.   The computerized system provides the surgeon with a three-dimensional view of the knee joint and precise data is used to more accurately align implants during knee replacement procedures.  In contrast to the previously available optical computer navigation systems the EM(electromagnetic) technology is much less cumbersome in the operation room and does not require separate incisions in the thigh and lower leg.   It is amazing technology that I believe will be the standard of care within the next few years.”
